Temporary lane restrictions are expected on Interstate 164 near Green River Road starting today. INDOT officials said lane restrictions will begin this morning and last through Friday, November 13th. They said contractor's crews will begin work at 7:30 a.m. each day. The crews will be installing sensors into the roadway in the Green River Road area.

Congressman Brad Ellsworth is getting an earfull from one of the organizations that, in the past, supported the conservative Democrat. The US House announced Thursday it would propose a "Rule" on the health care bill HR 3962, inserting language proposed by Ellsworth, effectively killing a ammendment from Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI). Both items involve language barring government insurance paying for abortions, but the National Right To Life Committee is calling the Ellsworth language "a fig leaf made out of cellophane" - allowing the Secretay of Health to hire contractors to pay health care providers who perform the procedure on an elective basis.

The 37th annual Crop Walk is set for this Saturday. 2009 is the 27th year the Tri-State Food Bank has participated in the event that raises funds for Church World Service hunger relief programs as well as local efforts by the Tri-State Food Bank and Emergency Food Pantry System of Evansville. Registration begins Saturday morning at 9:30am at St. Lucas UCC on West Virginia Street in Evansville with the 3-mile walk begining at 10:30am. 

Posey County Treasurer Linda D. Curtis reminds residents that November 13th is the deadline for paying real estate, personal property and mobile home tax on 2008-pay-2009 tax bills. Regular office hours for the Posey County Treasurer's Office are Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm, but Curtis will have the office open this Saturday from 8am to Noon for tyhe taxpayers' convenience. Curtis also reminds taxpayers her office will be closed Wednesday the 11th to observe Veterans Day.

A southern Illinois doctor is giving up his medical license after admitting he illegally dispensed methadone. Federal prosecutors say Sukhdarshan Bedi of Energy operated three clinics. He's pleaded guilty to charges of health-care fraud and conspiracy to illegally dispense a controlled substance.

Indiana's schools chief is warning local school superintendents about possible cuts to education funding. Superintendent Tony Bennett told local superintendents during a conference call Thursday that they should hold off on major expenditures until the state's revenue troubles are resolved

A panel from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business released its economic forecast Thursday in downtown Indianapolis. The economists predict a weak recovery in 2010 as the state and nation begin to recuperate from one of the worst recessions since World War II. The forecast projects growth will top 3 percent next year, but said that increase would only be over the recession's already low level of output

 A person with knowledge of the injury says Indianapolis Colts cornerback Marlin Jackson will miss the rest of the season after tearing the ACL in his left knee. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Colts had not announced the injury. It occurred during Thursday's practice. The injury was first reported by ESPN and the Indianapolis Star. Jackson made 23 consecutive starts at cornerback before tearing the ACL and meniscus in his right knee during a no-contact practice in October 2008. He had missed the past three games with a strained ACL in his right knee. Jackson's newest injury came a day after the Colts placed linebacker Tyjuan Hagler on injured reserve with a ruptured biceps

Samardo Samuels had 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead No. 19 Louisville to an 88-65 victory over Bellarmine in an exhibition game on Wednesday night. Preston Knowles added 15 points and Edgar Sosa had 12 points and four assists for the Cardinals, who shot 50 percent and had little trouble with the Knights, an NCAA Division II, GLVC school located in Louisville

Indiana freshman Bawa Muniru has been cleared by the NCAA to play college basketball this season. The Hoosiers had been waiting for the NCAA's eligibility center to make its ruling on Muniru, a 6-foot-11, 260-pound center from Tumu, Ghana. Muniru played high school ball the last two seasons in the U.S. The decision takes immediate effect. Coach Tom Crean said he understood it would take the NCAA time to do a thorough review and appreciated the work done both by the eligibility center and compliance officials at Indiana

An assistant women's basketball coach at Eastern Illinois University has died. The university says 28-year-old Jackie Moore died Wednesday night at a hospital after collapsing as she started a workout. School spokesman Rich Moser says doctors said Moore's heart "just stopped." Moser says an autopsy is planned.
